Why visit Cala Pregonda?
Cala Pregonda is one of the most amazing beaches in the north of Menorca. With its reddish sand, volcanic rocks, turquoise blue waters and a Martian-looking landscape, this wild cove is perfect for those looking for a natural and unspoiled environment.
In addition, its calm waters -even in rough seas- make it one of the best places for snorkeling in Menorca, within the Northern Marine Reserve.
📍 Where is Cala Pregonda?
It is located in the municipality of Es Mercadal, on the north coast of the island. It is accessible from any point of Menorca, although its access requires a walk of about 25 minutes.
🚶♂️ How to get to Cala Pregonda
🚗 By car
From Mahón or Ciutadella, drive along the Me-1 road to Es Mercadal. Take the Camí de Tramuntana towards Binimel-là (there are signs). Park in the free parking lot and follow the trail on foot for about 25-30 minutes along the Camí de Cavalls.

⛵ By boat from Fornells
If you prefer to avoid the hike, you can arrive by sea. From the port of Fornells, there are options of:
- Shared boat excursions
- Private boat rental (no license required)
🚌 By public transportation
Currently there is no direct bus to Cala Pregonda. You can:
- Take a bus to Es Mercadal
- Take a cab to Binimel-là
- From there, walk to the cove
🌊 What to do in Cala Pregonda
- Snorkeling in protected waters, calm and full of marine life.
- Relax on the reddish sand, surrounded by dunes and silence.
- Having a picnic in front of the sea (no beach bars or services)
- Photography and nature: ideal for disconnecting and admiring a unique landscape.
Practical tips for your visit
- Bring water, food and sun protection
- No shade on the road or on the beach
- Not ideal to go with small children (because of the hike).
- It is prohibited:
- Making mud baths
- Camping
- Bringing animals
